Mr. Amit Kumar is a distinguished expert in clean energy and renewable energy systems integration, with nearly four decades of experience in advancing sustainable energy solutions in India. A Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in thermal engineering from IIT Roorkee, he has played a pivotal role in the research, development, and dissemination of renewable energy technologies.

As the former Senior Director, Social Transformation at TERI, Amit spearheaded initiatives focused on energy access, holistic rural development, and community-led sustainability. He has been instrumental in driving research on renewable energy applications and resource-efficient process technologies, contributing significantly to India’s clean energy transition.

In his tenure as Dean at TERI University, he led efforts to expand online courses, faculty development programs, and capacity-building initiatives, strengthening knowledge dissemination in the sustainability domain. His expertise extends to policy advisory, technology deployment, and fostering public-private collaborations for energy transformation.

Currently associated with WRI India in an advisory capacity, Amit continues to shape the clean energy landscape by supporting research, policy advocacy, and implementation strategies that promote energy efficiency and sustainable development. His work remains central to integrating renewable energy into mainstream urban and rural development frameworks.
