THE supported UN Habitat in Bangladesh to drive sustainability in the construction sector through the “Transforming the Built Environment through Sustainable Materials” project. A member of our team actively collaborated with government bodies, industry stakeholders, and development partners to establish a roadmap for low-carbon development, aligned with Bangladesh’s updated Nationally Determined Contributions. This involved stakeholder consultations, technical workshops, and capacity-building initiatives to integrate green material certifications and retrofitting strategies into national policies and practices.
Key interventions included developing the Bangladesh Climate Action Roadmap and piloting demonstration projects, such as the RAJUK site at Wari, to showcase eco-friendly construction practices. Additionally, the team worked closely with partners like Bangladesh Bank and Eco Home Solutions to address financing gaps and stakeholder perceptions, facilitating broader adoption of green building incentives. These efforts have significantly advanced the integration of sustainable materials and practices, paving the way for inclusive and environmentally resilient urban development in Bangladesh.
