THE understands that a skilled workforce is essential for driving the transition to a sustainable built environment. We, therefore, offer comprehensive knowledge, skilling, and capacity-building programs for a diverse range of stakeholders, including academic institutions, SMEs, youth, and professionals.

One of the main challenges we address is the lack of specialized training and capacity-building programs that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Too often, students and professionals receive training that is disconnected from the realities of the workplace. THE addresses this challenge by developing interdisciplinary curricula that combine classroom learning with hands-on experience. We work closely with academic institutions and industry partners to ensure that our training programs are relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with the needs of the market.

Another challenge is the limited access to practical knowledge and skills for SMEs in the built environment. Many SMEs lack the resources and expertise to adopt sustainable practices, hindering their ability to compete in the green building market. THE addresses this challenge by offering targeted training programs that are specifically designed to meet the needs of SMEs. These programs provide practical guidance on topics such as energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable materials, enabling SMEs to implement sustainable practices and improve their bottom line.

Furthermore, THE recognizes the need to engage youth and inspire the next generation of sustainability leaders. We offer specialized training programs for students and young professionals, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and networks they need to pursue careers in the green building industry. Our programs combine classroom learning with mentorship opportunities, internships, and networking events, empowering youth to become agents of change in their communities. We simplify complex certifications and focus on industry-aligned training to facilitate a smooth and understandable process.

Examples of our work include:

Solar Decathlon Challenge Guidance

THE has mentored students from the University School of Architecture and Planning (USAP), and mentored design for the ‘on-site construction worker housing’ division, fostering innovation and practical skills in sustainable design. By guiding them we enabled the students to develop design principles for sustainability and practical construction for the construction worker housing

Development of ‘Building Energy and Green Buildings’ Course

Developing the ‘Building Energy and Green Buildings’ course offered as an elective at the Department of Sustainable Engineering at the TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS), offering a broad perspective on curriculum focused on sustainability. THE facilitated curriculum development and integration by providing expert counsel and curriculum development for integration in the course, demonstrating THE’s expertise on both the academic and practical levels.

Development of LEED Lab Curriculum at Amity University Haryana

THE is furthering the initiative of curriculum development and implementation, by developing LEED Lab curriculum for students UG/ PG students of Architecture, Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, and Environmental Engineering and related disciplines.

Sustainability Workshop Modules for Ramboll

Designing workshop modules for integration of sustainability principles seamlessly into project planning and execution. We designed workshop modules for Ramboll teams in India to empower them with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to integrate sustainability principles seamlessly into project planning and execution across ‘buildings’ and ‘transport’ divisions.

Enabling Capacity Building Through Focused Workshops

We designed and conducted a three-day workshop on “Policy and Regulatory Framework for Promoting Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Buildings and Appliances“, supported by UNEP. This targeted training for policymakers involved comprehensive course material and interactive sessions, sharing practical insights from international experts. THE supported workshop design and implementation by offering a comprehensive course and interactive sessions.

Training Programmes on Sustainable Buildings and Construction – A GRIHA Approach conducted with focus on real-world applications, in collaboration with national agencies (e.g., NBCC, CPWD) as extensive hands-on workshops.Advanced Training Course on Sustainable Lighting Practices designed and delivered to with cutting-edge technology focus, in collaboration with industry (e.g., Philips India) through practical demonstrations and case studies.

At the industry level, there are inadequate on-the-job training opportunities for professionals who require apprenticeship and internship programs to provide hands-on experience in green building practices. Professionals also face difficulty in navigating certification processes and regulatory compliance landscape. We are equipped to develop customised training, develop industry-academia collaborative programmes and simplify certification processes to provide clear guidance and support for professionals and tradespeople.

THE’s value in capacity building programs is rooted in aligning industry experience to the next generation of leaders and innovators, creating specialized and focused programmes that have a lasting impact.
