Dr. Priyanka Kochhar is a sustainability professional specializing in green buildings, energy efficiency, and climate-responsive urban development. She is the CEO and Co-founder of The Habitat Emprise and has played a pivotal role in shaping sustainable building policies in India and internationally. With over 22 years of experience, she has been instrumental in mainstreaming green building rating systems, including GRIHA, LEED and EDGE and has contributed to revising municipal byelaws to integrate resource efficiency across multiple cities.
Dr. Kochhar has worked extensively with government bodies, international organizations, and academic institutions, providing technical expertise on climate action roadmaps, integrated water management, and energy transition strategies. She has led major projects with UN-Habitat, UNEP, UNIDO and IFC, focusing on policy frameworks that drive low-carbon, climate-resilient urban development.
She serves on various national and international advisory panels, including committees for green building regulations, energy efficiency policies, and climate adaptation strategies. A prolific author, Dr. Kochhar has published numerous papers and reports on sustainable urbanization, resource efficiency, and climate resilience.
Dr. Priyanka Kochhar holds a Ph.D. with a specialization in life cycle costs of green buildings from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. She was awarded a distinction and secured top rank in the master’s program in environmental conservation from the University of Greenwich, London. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
A recognized thought leader, she has lectured at premier institutions such as the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, and the University School of Architecture and Planning, among others.
